Linkage

A revitalised program for Australia’s research future – changes to the NCGP.

The revitalised National Competitive Grant Program (NCGP) was announced on 22 July 2026.

Linkage funding schemes aim to:

  • encourage and extend cooperative approaches to research
  • improve the use of research outcomes by strengthening links across Australia’s innovation system and internationally

The Linkage Program promotes national and international research partnerships between researchers and:

  • business
  • industry
  • community organisations
  • other publicly funded research agencies

Through these partnerships, the program encourages the exchange of skills, knowledge and ideas to support commercial, economic, social and other benefits arising from research.
