Mr James Migro, Western Australian Police
Mr James Migro has been an operational police officer since 1972 and a detective since 1975. During this period Mr Migro has acquired expertise and a thorough understanding of the issues of alcohol and drug related harms including the impact to families and the entire community. Mr Migro has worked as a detective in the Drug Squad and also managed it as the detective superintendent in charge of the Organised Crime Division. Through his roles at the National Drug Law Enforcement Research Fund and Intergovernmental Committee on Drugs Mr Migro has worked closely with many researchers and participated in reference/steering groups for research projects relating to alcohol and drugs. Mr Migro is currently a member of the National Alcohol Sales Data Project advisory committee and the advisory committee modelling the public health and safety impacts of liquor licensing changes on communities being conducted by the National Drug Research Institute. As Chair of the Intergovernmental Committee on Drugs Mr Migro was the Chair of the working group developing the National Drug Strategy from 2016 to 2025 prior to the establishment of the National Drug Strategy Committee.
